Porch Plants - Florida

I'm hoping to get some assistance or pointers in picking out the right type of plants that would live out on my porch. I seem to kill most plants lol so I need all the help I can get.

I live in Central Florida just bought a small wood frame home last year and would like to add some plants to my front/rear porches. My front porch gets lots of sunlight throughout the day. The back porch gets a lot less direct sunlight.

I'm looking for something fairly simple to start with and inexpensive but I've honestly no idea what type of plants to get here.

I gave my son a Croton plant for his vestibul a number of years ago and it has thrived there in partial sun with minimal care so I know it has to be hardy. I am pretty sure it is a plant that does well in Florida.

Any plant nursery in your area can answer your questions better than anyone here could,check the yellow pages for one.
