Fourteen year old concrete around pool has a nice crack the majority of the one side:
Pic A:

Pic B:

Pic C:

The crack has been there some time but this year as seen in Pic B and C there are some divots forming.

I know there is a substrate problem here and I don't want to create work but I'm a bit concerned on tripping hazard when those divots come loose.

I'd appreciate suggestions on repairing. I've thought of cutting the crack with diamond blade and then filling with a flexible sealant (or whatever) but as the crack isn't really straight this would likely makes things worse. Perhaps just fill in the divots? With what that won't pop out again?

The only best cure here is replacement I think.

By looking at it I really don't think you have a substrate problem. Both sides of the cracker at the same elevation which is normal if you have a substrate problem. I think I agree with Moxie however to just leave it alone until it gets worse and starts causing problems. Since it's at the same elevation and not real why I don't really think it will be a tripping hazard for the time being. When it gets worse then you will have to make a decision.

The walkway slab is a regular slab - 3-1/2" deep, and it did exactly what concrete does - it cracked.
Live with it,
Remove the walkway and do something else, OR
Cut it lengthwise and wide enough and install bricks or pavers.

DJ3,
I get your point, but to get to my question, is there something less than a few thousand dollars of materials/labor that might work for a couple of years until my next stimulus check comes in?

typical of many pools we see,,, its general location is near the pool's 'bond beam' of all i see,,, best reasonable $ repair is saw 'n' seal it as you can't disguise it,,, guys that install pool aprons rarely install correct joint patterns ,,, if they had, we wouldn't have as much work :vs_mad:
i like dj's idea - more $ but a good idea nevertheless
