The sand in my paver walkway has erroded significantly in certain areas. I think the past homeowners used regular sand. you can remove it with your finger.

I'll be blasting all of it out with a pressure washer and starting fresh. I've heard an opinion that powerwashing the sand out can ruin the base under the pavers. They recommended to only take out an inch or so and use regular or silica sand, with an epoxy sealer that sinks to the botton of the joint and hardens everything.

Many people are now startng to notice that polymeric sand chips away easily.

Any experts out there with some good and tested advice?

Just unzipped a walkway with Poly in it and it was holding up pretty well. I do think it require occasional re-application, but it seems to hold up better than standards sand.

As long as you power wash at an angle, you shouldn't disturb the base.

What are your thoughts on using a turbo nozzle. I have a fairly weak powerwasher at 1900 psi
