My wife and I are torn with where to put the front porch downlighting. Option A is centered up with the walkway below (excluding the 6" where the columns cover). Option B is centered up with the entire cement slab below. Hopefully that makes sense... There will be 5 lights in a row total, spaced evenly between the columns. Anyway, before I start drilling, I wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks!

Ayuh,..... I would think that the structure above the ceiling will dictate where the lights can go,.....

Ya gotta have the space, 'n structure to mount 'em too,.....
I'm going to be using LED's that don't require cans, and all the joists have been marked off, so that won't be an issue.

Here's a picture of what I'll be using:

Ok,...... Do you wanta hi-light the house(further back), or the garden in front of it(further out),......

I guess my 1st choice would be in-line with the round thing in the picture,.....
Sorta centered,....

We're looking to highlight more of the house than the garden. We just want to make sure the house isn't TOO lit up, but I'll be installing a dimmer switch to help with that. Personally, I think they look cleaner closer in, but I'm not sure the light will be as even elsewhere. Then again, I could be overthinking it. I do plan on eventually removing the plywood that's currently there, then replacing it with shiplap, but that's not going to happen for a while... Could always do one, then switch it later when I do the shiplap if we aren't happy with the look.
