Hello,

My garage and laundry area of my home have unfinished vaulted ceiling (i.e., I can see nails from roofing, wires, pipe). I would like to panel it, my contractor told me to use Dry Wall and screw it into stud. But, it seems to be too heavy for me to do it alone. So, I am thinking of using 1/4" plywood (I noticed MDF middle layer with birch (wood) finish). can anyone tell me pros and cons of this?

- Fire Code? - like 5/8" drywall is required)
- Mold? - because now, my ceiling is enclosed

What if I use solid pine wood instead (8'x1')? or thicker plywood?

You need the fire code sheetrock and a drywall lift. You can rent one for under $50.00 a day. Mine can lift to 11'6" without an adapter(15').
