Hey all,

I've read a lot of other posts and viewed their pictures. I am finishing my basement and have some plumbing rough-in down there. I was wondering if anyone would mind helping me identify the individual pipes. I have attached a picture and here is what I believe they are. It is a "half-bath rough-in"; The pipe at the upper most part of the picture is the toilet pipe. The pipe in the middle of the three, along the wall is the vent pipe, and the one closest to the bottom of the picture is the sink drain. Any comments?
Also, how difficult is it to run a shower drain with this set up? I have tapped around the area with hammer and I do not have any hollow sounding spots where there may have been a pipe/drain placed and covered with cement. I don't know for sure, but I think this might be a hire out job. But, I really enjoy doing my own work....So, if its managable I will do it.

Posting good pictures is not as easy as jack hammering a floor and installing pipes.:laughing:

I've done countless floor piping jobs--yet never could post a picture here.

Adding a 2" drain and vent for a shower should not be to difficult----the main drain is the toilet pipe---

Use masking tape or something to do a sample layout----then try those pictures again---

Yes of course you are correct. I should have said:

In order for anyone to be able to help you, it would be much more beneficial to back off, and take a wide angle shot to give the general layout from an eye level perspective, as if you have stood back and presented the problem on a wide palette. You could then get closer and, placing a yardstick or ruler for reference, show the relative position of your stub outs (Pipes) relative to your walls.

It does at times become very laborious posting pictures because of the absolutely ludicrous size limit of 100KB, and this probably discourages most people from posting pictures at all. 400kb would make a lot more sense.

lavatory drains can tie in to the waste stack above floor level. If the smaller drain in the floor is 2" it is probably a shower drain. Look inside of it and see if it is trapped
