Hi. I'm running the piping for my sump pump. My plan is to run it out to a downspout. This downspout runs into a 3" solid pipe that drains out to the road. I just not sure how and where to connect into it. See pics. My plan is run the pipe out the side of the house and run to the spout ( second pic) not sure if I should tap into downspout or the actual pipe. Advise please!

Take the downspout adapter off, install a wye on top of the green drainpipe. Reinstall the downspout adapter on the vertical section of the wye. Run the sump drain into the angled section of the wye, using a reducer bushing .

Ayuh,.... Donno where yer located on the planet, but if ya see freezin' temps, it ain't gonna work,....

The sump pump drain line has to drain out dry between cycles, or it'll freeze solid,...

I do see freezing temps in the winter. I'm from Ohio. I could bring the pipe out of the house really close to that downspout. Isn't there a way to put some kind of insulation on the small area of exposed pipe? This way is kind of my only option.

I'm in Missouri, and we see plenty of freezing temps too. Occasionally mine does run in the winter, like last week when we had severe flooding.

I just made sure all lines I ran had some decent pitch to them so that they would stay clear in the cold. Never an issue in 10+ years.
