Hi

When I switched my internet service provider they removed some old equipment from the side of the house and now I have some screw holes to plug.
This is the south facing side of the house and get lots on sun and hot in summer and cold in winter.

Do I use GE silicone for this?

Thanks

I would think silicone would be fine to keep out the rain if the hole is small and it does not need to be painted over. You did not say whether the exterior is vinyl, brick, wood, cedar, etc. I am no expert on these matters, but if you are just wanting to plug a small hole to keep out water and insects, then silicone should be fine.

You could also consider plugging the holes. Garden sprinkler systems have little plugs for plugging up holes. Little caulk and plug should hold even if the holes were bigger. Also little paint on the cap for matching the siding color.

The last sealer I would ever use would be silicone. You can't paint it, mold will grow under it in time destroying the seal, you won't be able to remove it with any method other than mechanical means, no solvent will dissolve it, nothing will stick to it or can be applied over it, etc.

When I washed the siding on my son's house I found a couple of repairs I didn't notice prior to him buying it. The previous owner had taken a small piece of leftover siding and pop riveted it over the holes. Hard to notice unless you are looking right at it.
