I have an outlet in my garage that is on a down stream GFCI, 20amp breaker.

I was swapping out the outlet because it has three black and three white wires. One of each is back stabbed into the outlet with the other wires on the screws.

The wire is 12ga. My pigtail wire that I have is 14ga.

So the question is, can you use a 14ga to pigtail with existing 12ga wire.

The pigtail should be the same size as the circuit conductors for the circuit. Yours should be #12.

I don't mind buying a 15 foot package. Good to have extra stuff around. A 25 foot package was only $4 more, but I don't think I would ever use that much.
