Is that a Japanese Maple on that front corner?

My reason for asking is that I would strongly suggest one consider the mature size of any plant material, especially when placed near a building. It could be moved next fall after it goes dormant without any problem.

So many perennials to chose from, so little space!
Maintenance preferences?

I'm thinking some small evergreens (shrubs?) at the wall for a framework. Bulbs, irises; groundcover at the front; rudbeckia, shasta daisy, coneflower.
