Cannot decide on a wall color to accent my new area rug. It is a Oriental Weavers sphinx rug very similar to 2040A in the Emerson collection. Same colors just without the red. Dont want to go too bold.

I can tell you now that without pics of the carpet up against the wall, you're not gonna get much help. Just accent a color in the rug that is NOT a bold/bright color. Stay fairly neutral if you have lots of color in the area rug...........that's about the best I can give you without a pic to help me.

I do not want the background color of the rug because my sectional is very close to that color. My furniture is espresso colored.

Hard to tell without seeing the room or getting a sense of its size.

Color correct you monitor to 6500K.

Install a pixel grabber on your machine (tons of free ones out there) and grab the RGB color codes for some of the colors in the rug you might consider for an accent wall or as accents like cushions.

Go to www.easyrgb.com and plug the RGB codes into the search engine. Pick Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore as the paint line you want (or any other that offers a free virtual painting program). easyRGB will kick out the closest color swatch names and numbers.

Take these colors and plug them in as starting points into the free virtual painting and visualization software and paint a room similar to yours to see how you like it. If you have the patience you can upload an image of your actual room, mask it off and paint it too.

Once you have colors you think you can live with? Take the paint codes to your paint store and get larger swatches or the sample bottles of paint they sell for most colors now. Live with the swatches or test paint on the walls for a day or so. If it is what you want, buy the paint and you are good to go.
