You can use something for lubricant, but you don't need a sealant on a compression fitting. Most likely (hopefully) you will be using SS braided supply lines. They have a rubber washer inside that doesn't require thread sealant.

Tapered pipe threads is all i use PTFE on but on any other screwed plumbing fitting i apply a dab of plumber's grease to make ease of removal easier 20 years later when water minerals have attempted to make things difficult.
