I am going to replace all of my galvanized supply lines with pex. Bought most of the materials at Lowes, which is the Apollo pex lines.

Heard good and bad about using the apollo pex crimp tool so I am thinking bout the expander tool. Can you use the expander tool with Apollo pex?

Thanks!!

I've been using the crimp rings for many years and never had one fail yet.
Have you priced oen of those expanding tools?

The expander tool is specifically for Wirsbo fittings. The actual pex pipe is the same, but the fittings are completely different. So yes, you can use Apollo pex tubing with Wirsbo fittings and the Wirsbo expander tool. As to price, I purchased my expander tool used for somewhere around $350, pricey but the system is quite good. Never used the crimp system, cannot comment on it.

One issue to point out that I learned from the experts here, and correct me if I am wrong, the crimp system fitting have smaller inner diameters than the expanding system and may choke your system down.

Yes the i.d. is smaller, but barely, not even close to where it would 'choke' anything down. PEX flows so much better than copper in my experience that any restriction caused by that step change is minimal and not noticed.
