I recently bought a house that is about 15 yrs old. I am told that the plumbing is the old Pex plumbing, it is grey in color, (not colored red or blue for hot and cold). I am concerned that this is the pex material that had a massive mfg recall. I live in Indiana and need to know what to do before I start a DIY project.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Its not pex. Its polybutylene and it needs to go. Determine how much is in your home, search the forum here for installing pex and then have at it.

EPlumber is spot on. I have never seen grey potable water PEX, it is always translucent. It may be red, blue or colorless. There has been no recall of PEX tubing, there have been recalls of brass fittings for PEX (see Zurn lawsuit), but you don't have PEX, so that is irrelevant.
