In Florida. A corner of our roof, part of a wall, and front porch were torn off during one of our last hurricanes. Certified contractors were months out to even give a quote for repair work. I could have used one of the many shady operations patrolling the neighborhoods but having some experience with roofing/framing decided to just do it myself. I was tired of living under a blue tarp that kept leaking.

I didn’t pull a building permit though. I am now getting quotes on a new roof and one of the contractors brought the issue up about the previous work. He stated we may not be able to get ANY work done with re-permitting and potentially re-building all that I have done. The overall roof is 20 yrs old but doesn’t leak. Just needs an upgrade.

Anyone have experience with this? Suggestions?
