Torch down itself has a few different types of application,
plus it's just one of a few dozen systems that can be installed on flat/low sloped roofs.
Many roofers 'myself included' steer away from torch down systems for the simple reason of the added risk of dealing with the flames around lumber, insulation, etc.
Plus many single ply systems are less labor intense and still give the same life span expectancy.
There are also self adhered systems that go down with out the use of a torch but give the same end result in both looks and life span.
I have installed thousands of squares of torch down, but less than 100 squares of those where on residential.
There's far to many systems available for residential projects to worry about dealing with the extra risk of a torch down system.
