I cut out a section of my subfloor to get access to some plumbing below. Now I need to patch the hole.
From what I read the new section should span three joists.
1) Do I need to install bracing between the joists on the seams?
2) If I use a circular saw to cut out the plywood, do I need to worry about cutting into the top of the joist by 1/8" to cut through the ply?
3) Nail heads are sunken where the existing plywood is nailed to the joists, should I try to remove these so I can cut right down the center of the joist. If so whats the best way to do this without gouging the floor to much?

I plan on putting another layer of 1/2" plywood over top of the 5/8" for tile.

Thanks
