Hey Guys

I have a pile of 30 degree Paslode ring shank strip nails designed for an air/gas nailer. Is there a quick visual way to tell which nails are intended for outdoor use? I haven't got the boxes anymore and I need to use exterior nails in my deck, and can't tell them apart. Thanks!!!

#1, No way would I be using any nails in decking if that's what your going to use them for.
Ceramic coated or stainless steel decking screws only!
Nails are just going to pull out over time.
ACQ approved nails will be ring shanked and gold colored.
Only nails I use when building a deck is hanger nails for the joist hangers.

Forgive me I only want to do a job once and not have someone come back and say who did this to you.

According to the Email I received from the building inspector, along with the attached schmatic copied from the Ontario Building code, BOTH screws or nails are acceptable, although he stated in the Email he "Prefers to see nails" I am using nails ONLY to attach lateral blocking between the joists and to box the 6x6 uprights used as railing posts. I used the proper nails and joist hangers on the rim joist and ledger board and will be using screws everywhere else including decking. The paslode strips I have here (dozens) are either silver or dull gray, nothing that looks like gold, they have either orange, purple or no glue on them.

Back to my actual question; is there a way to tell indoor/outdoor nails apart? Thanks
