I am getting new cupboard doors, and am going to sand the rest and paint with melamine, after putting on a primer. I want the company to spray the doors for me but they weren't sure if they could spray melamine, that it might be too thick.

I would like to paint my kitchen cupboards with melamine paint, but for a smoother look, I would like to spray them. Can I spray melamine paint?
I used Benjamin Moore "Collection" in a pearl finish on my cabinets. It was sprayed on. Then I applied a coat of Deft clear wood finish for extra protection. Turned out very well and that was a year ago - no chips so far.

I looked it up because all I could think of was painting cabinets with baby formula.

"A conventional paint sprayer will result in a "glass smooth" finish. Spray application is also recommended to obtain a smooth even finish over heavily textured or contoured surfaces."

Also, they recommend against top coating with any sealer or clear coat.. blah blah blah. If you use it, post some pics.

I'm firmly of the opinion that if you want additional protection, add another color coat. There is no reason to clear coat a pigmented furniture/cabinet finish. Auto paint is clear coated to give a certain effect to the finish (called "depth of shine"), and because auto pigment is very expensive. Clear furniture finish is not significantly cheaper than pigmented and your cabinets are not supposed to be mirror-glossy, making "depth" not necessary.
