I removed the wallpaper from my bathroom about a week ago and then took the popcorn ceiling down. I'm ready to fix the rips I made to the drywall paper when I was taking the wallpaper down but I keep reading to wash the walls down to removal residual glue. I don't see anything on the walls and when I run my hand along the drywall it just feels a little gritty but not sticky. Should I wash the walls with water anyway?

Yes, lick your finger and then touch the walls. I've never removed paper from walls that didn't require washing. Wash them down with warm water, dry overnight, sand the walls, then apply a sealer coat of Zinsser Gardz or Cover Stain. Gardz is easier. Do your patching, and then Gardz over the patches. Finish with a quality finish of your choice.

Well, he's in a bathroom, so I guess he could just dampen his finger under the sink, but what man does that.:laughing: Besides, if your finger is too wet, it won't feel as tacky. I usually skip licking my finger and just lick the wall directly, why waste time. If your tongue sticks they need to be washed.:laughing:
