A bonding primer and quality trim paint should do just fine. Ask at your local paint store (not Big Box) for confirmation. I know that SW has special "Vinyl Safe" colors (they only use pigments that adhere well to Vinyl), but those colors refer to siding, which is going to be far more extreme than your windows.

I'm going to paint an Anderson vinyl window
They said painting a lighter color is OK
Darker color is not

They say the darker colors can cause the vinyl to heat up more in the sun and make it buckle. I can't say that I have seen it happen. I always recommend NOT painting vinyl as you are taking a maintenance free surface and making it something you will have to paint every 5 years.
Talk to your local Sherwin store and ask for their advice, along with the list of Vinyl Safe colors.I wonder why lighter is OK? Of course, I want to go darker!
If I had to guess, I would have said darker was better or there was no difference between the two choices.
Anyone out there who can satisfy my idle curiosity?
I would suspect that some colorants adhere well to Vinyl, and some don't. White/Pastels only have a little bit of colorant, so they do not have adhesion issues. (The base white pigment adheres pretty well I guess.)

Yes - that's the reason I was told
Since they make windows with darker colors - terratone - others?
It may depend upon how dark of a color you want
Also if it faces South - direct sun
My window I may paint the trim faces North
And I am going from terratone to white
I am debating leaving it Terratone
how to cover caulking marks?
Hi everyone, new...here i have checked out your blogs for months now, and finally decided to join. OK my question is, i have been redoing my kitchen for the past month 1/2...awful trouble painting my cabinets....long story, but anyway, the main issue now is i went w/ semi-gloss paint, which i love the sheen, but now everywhere i have caulked looks awful, i tried to sand out the caulk but it seems to gumm up....any suggestions? Desperate help, just want to get finished!!

The only way I have found to eliminate your problem is to take a box knife, if you have a delicate touch, or a razor blade type scraper and remove the surface of the caulk, Then use a caulk that can be cleaned up with water and use a wet tee shirt rag to wipe as you go, That will give you the cleanest surface possible unless you use bondo or something else that is sandable. I assume you wanted something that will flex. You do not have to dig out all the caulk. Just get it below your original surface so you can recaulk neatly.
