I'm planning on ordering a french patio door. I called therma tru and was told that they only sell parts for the doors. The distributor assembles them and paints them. I looked up the distributor and they don't seem to have many colors. I'm looking for an off white. What is the typical quality of a distributor finished Therma tru door? Should I just attempt to paint it myself? I'm worried about it looking like crap, if I paint it. That my be the only way to get a different color than white.

My options would be to spray it or use a brush. I have a wagner control sprayer, but I'm going to get a Graco sprayer.

If the distributor will get the color you want, I'd let them paint it.

French doors are a paint to paint.

From past experience if the distributor finishes it, then it will be done by a stock boy in the back room. I’ve seen it done. Be sure to ask the right questions.
