We moved to a new condo recently. The condo's management company is claiming our movers caused some scratches to the frame outside elevator doors. The scratches look fairly minor, but given given COVID lockdown and protests it's been impossible to get a quote for repairs.

Is anyone familiar with issues like this and home much it might cost.

Thanks in advance.

Hi mark,
Spoke extensively with management company and moving company. Everyone is trying to pass the buck.

I'm trying to get a reasonable range of what it might cost.

Is it a bucket of regular paint and 1 hour of work? Or multi-day project with some specializes paint needed?

Are we talking about $100 or $3000? Don't need the exact amount, but hoping for a realistic ball park.

I'm sure it would be at least $100 - small jobs always come with a premium for coming out. Not knowing what type of paint was used and how it was applied it's impossible to know what would be involved. It could be as simple as a spray can or quart of paint but it could have some sort of special coating that could cost significantly more.

The odds of having it done to management's satisfaction is about the same as me doing a perfect job putting putting tooth paste back in the tube. Suggest to management , you have it done so it will meet your satisfaction. mark sr has the lower number maybe a little low and you have the top at around $3,000 a little hi so somewhere in between i suspect.

Can't help with estimates so much, but I wanted to add that I think price depends on if the frame metal or wood too. Wood is easier to fix, metal a bit more problematic :/

Metal's easier. If its metal, get a razor blade, and use it like a mini drywall knife, and put a little glazing/spot putty in the scratch, give a tiny sand, spot prime, repaint the leg, or maybe the whole frame. Probably the same with wood, unless its a deeper gouge.

I still say its the moving companys responsibility though.
