I am a DIY homeowner trying to fix up the basemeny with some durable walls. I have built walls with OSB and I have put 3 coats of paint so far. The lines and numerical stamps from the factory just keep bleeding through. Any suggestions.

Did you prime first?

Usually the writing is only on one side, the more rough side. If you screwed it in place maybe just flip it over and start over with the paint? Though that is probably too much work.

You might just hit the spots showing the letters with primer, do a top coat, and see if that helps.

I am sure some of the more experienced painters will be along to comment shortly.

Spot prime the bleed through areas with Bin. This will prevent it from continuing. Good luck

You really need a good oil based primer on OSB or any bare wood for that matter. All the wood Tannins as well as the glue can bleed through any latex paint or latex primer.

I will clarify my statement. I would only use alcohol based Bin not Bin 123. Since 3 coats of paint are already on the osb, and the only problem is print bleed through, then you don't need to prime now. Just hit those problem areas.

I appreciate your feedback. I think Ill go with Bin for what I have placed but in the future Ill flip it over and use the other side of the OSB. The 16" on center lines make it easier to place screws, but Ill hit it with a chalk line and screw away.:thumbup:
