[paint helper]

We live in a house that was built in the mid-70s. I believe it is a pre-fab. It has cheap doors and the door cases are wood with it looks like some kind of vinyl covering over it to match the doors. Unfortunately, we just can't afford all new doors so I'm wondering if I can paint the door frames and doors.

Any ideas as to what kind of primer and/or paint?

If it is vinyl, there are very specific prep and primers for that type of substrate.

A good paint supply store should have everything that you need as well as the proper advice.

Zinsser 1-2-3 latex primer, it's cheap and sticks to anything, even glass. Then, 2 topcoats in your favorite paint, usually semi-gloss for doors and trim.

You must have never seen the trim in mobile homes. It's like a veneer over particle board.
