I'm looking to paint my concrete patio. Currently the concrete is textured, lots of black pebbles and stones. There are so many choices: Rustoleum Decorative Concrete Coating, ArmorSeal Tred-Plex, Kilz Over Armor, Sherwin Wlliams Porch and Floor Enamel... Which is good for having patio furniture, weather resistant, that will withstand foot traffic and will last? Help!

depends,,, how long do you want it to last w/o maintenance ? are you willing to repaint each year ? there isn't ANY paint that's totally resistant to pedestrian traffic/deck chairs/tables moved back & forth.

that being said, there are coatings typically good for 7yrs+ that are diy-friendly,,, cement-based, they can be colored &, w/uv-resistant sealers, are fairly fade-resistant,,, you will have to reseal annually

nuttin's as easy as 1st thought, is it,,, at least you & my bride agree - the difference is she don't LISTEN when i try to tell her, honey, you can't get 5gal of water into a 4gal bucket :vs_mad: doesn't stop her from tryin tho -bless her heart

You can purchase an inexpensive electric pressure washer for 100 dollars and make the patio look almost brand new.

Pressure wash it once a year and even after 5 years you'll still be ahead in time and materials compared to all that would be involved with proper prep, and the labor involved in painting.

Plus not to mention the paint will only look good for the first season.

The best luck I've had with concrete is H & C concrete stain. After a thorough cleaning, and allowing it to dry for several days, I apply 2 coats of H & C. You can get it in any color. At my old house, I would get 6 or 7 years out of the stain on my back patio. Now, it did wear a bit from shoveling snow and dragging chairs across it, etc., but, overall, it held up nicely. It never peeled, just wore off from the aforementioned situations.

IXNAY on exterior epoxies - no mfg would suggest OR guarantee their product even if covered w/urethane ( all epoxies need SOME top protective coating as epoxy is never a final floor finish ),,, conc stain may be op's solution - either acid OR wtr-based,,, h & c is sher-wms brand but the only people who generally use them are painters & h/o's,,, most staining pro's use pro mtls & its rarely wtr-based
instead of buying a cheap p/w, rent a decent 1 & do it right the 1st time,,, elec p/w's have no balls
