Painting a basement wall

948 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Gymschu
I'm in the process of painting a basement wall of a home that I intend to sale as an unfinished basement. I need to know if I could get away with a block filler or block coat. I just want it to look nice and clean. I plan on doing the walls in the white filler and the floors in a glossy gray. Should I go with the filler or should I do paint ?

CDaniels is right. Do the block filler first and seal out any moisture, then paint. If you paint the block now, you can never go back and do the block filler. BF does not stick to paint and if it can't get into the pores of the block, it is ineffective against blocking out moisture. The only way I would just do paint is if you have a raised ranch foundation that is ALWAYS dry.
