Yeah, paint first. I wish I had. I hired a guy to install tile in my bath, and he requested that I *not* paint first, saying his wet saw might cause some splatter on the walls -- but in fact that didn't happen, and then when it came to paint I had to cut in carefully to the tile. I won't do it that way again.

I would paint first... Maybe you will need to do a little touch up after the tile work. Or, worst case... If the touch up work shows just repaint. The second time with the same color is way easier than the first and should only take one coat.

Paint 1st! Run the paint as low as possible without touching the slab/ subfloors. Then even if you have a wet tile saw you can drape the wall if need be.

It only makes good sense as the tile should really be treated as a finish material and if it gets so out of hand that you get grout and adhesive on the walls then you or your tiler should consider working out of another room.

Take care and be safe.
