Is it okay to use a paint brush cleaned with thinner or spirits (after being used with oil paint) for latex paint??

Why would you? Oil brushes are for oil paint , latex brushes or for latex paint.

I guess I thought a paint brush was a paint brush. Wasn't aware of different brushes for different paint. What is the difference in the brushes?

It's the way the bristles hold and behave with the paints on them. There are brushes for "All Paints" but I don't recommend them.

Generally, Use Natural China bristle for oil paints and synthetic fibers for latex.
