Is there a cover plate that can cover this bad cut? I don’t think the jumbo wall plate is going to cover it.


Or will I need to compound the damage? Unfortunately it’s already primed and painted.

Not an electrician. I don't think so. Even if yes, it will not look good for a switch position. I tried filling a hole like it with a can spray foam with success. Make sure to use a fresh can and too much can push the drywall out. You can also fix with mesh tape and just compounding over it but not as robust fix without some backing.

I would fix it and touch up the paint. I think I could do a better cut with a Boy Scout axe.
