Hi people hope u all can help me with this q. We want to install a below ground pool. Problem is that we have a 10 easement and pool people suggested we ask electrical company if they can abandon 5 ft so that our pool can fit. Have u heard of this being done? Other option, rerouting the wires. Does electrical company do this? About how much do they charge? We really want a pool :-(

The power company will not relinquish part of an easement. They require easements of a certain width so if they lose from you, they need to gain from the neighboring property. Then you have the problem of the easement being offset which would require rebuilding the lines. Ultimately you are talking thousands, if not 10's of thousands of dollars.

Sorry but unless I am really misunderstanding your situation, what you propose is simply not feasible.

I tend to agree with Nap's assessment, but since you want it, I would start with a7e's question, and talk with your local zoning department, to learn all of the requirements in that regard; they may or may not be able to hand you an outline over the counter, so that you could better prepare yourself before meeting with someone. You may find, as an example, that a secondary fence is required, or that there are other criteria specific to a pool, which may alter your initial plans. Once you have that in order, and know exactly where everything would be placed, do as jbfan said, and contact the power company. Again, I think that Nap pretty much nailed it, but for answers this specific, you need to talk with specific individuals within your local jurisdiction.
