Gents, I am getting ready to tackle building a shed in the backyard. Eventually I want to add a detached garage, but its either that or a Harley this summer.........and it looks like the Harley is winning.

So i am going to settle and put up a 12 x 16 shed in the backyard. I am good with construction so doing it myself won't be a problem. 84 Lumber is quoting me around $1600 for everything. I will be doing it on a small slope in the backyard as I don't feel like leveling for a pad on this project.

What are your thoughts? Think something like this will look ok on a slope up on posts? Or should i rethink this and just go for it on a pad?

Also, I haven't seen a better price anywhere on the materials (no way in hell will I go to Lowes and buy a prefab kit like I did 5 or 6 years ago)

Any suggestions on anywhere that might have a better price in the middle TN area?

Thanks!

Are you planning on just having a dirt or gravel floor? I wouldn't be happy with that myself, especially if you plan on doing any mechanical work in the shed. It's frustrating trying to get jacks and jackstands stable on rocks, not to mention laying under a car without a creeper. JMHO.

Since when do we have to use a code for Home Depot?

my grandfather built his shed on 8x8 railroad ties leveled into his slope.. steaked them deep into the ground and secured the shed to the ties.. its been there for neary 3 years and braved some serious weather.

just a suggestion

No, just building it on posts, with 16" OC 2 x 8's.

Essentially, I am building a deck..........that has a plywood floor, walls and a roof.
