Hi- I have seen many options on how to deck around a bay window but my situation is that my bay runs to the end of the house. Any idea how to frame the joists in this situation? There is no foundation under the bay which is why I cannot put in a ledger.

Thanks for your help!

Do you know how the floor is framed below it? Can you add that to your picture.

Hi- as mentioned no foundation under the bay but the floor is framed with truss joists. I will check to see the detail of the ends.

Are you thinking that if the floor joists are one piece thru the bay then it would be enough for a ledger board to grab onto?? Never thought of that and that would be a good news.

No I wasn't thinking that, I am not sure that is ever allowed.

Well thanks to you I just went ahead and took a look at the floor construction. Looks like there are 8' 2x10's that are cantilevered under the bay and go back into the house and are nailed into the sides of the 2x material for the floor trusses. I think the 2x10 rim would be a solid surface to to even though it is not sitting on a sill. Would you agree or do you think there is another alternative?

No I don't, so your floor is 8" and your deck frame should be 6" below the sub floor, is that what you were planning for?

try this. Out the two doubles in below the box out and set the cross double on top of them

Here are pictures of my specific case. Note right to the left of the bay (when looking at it) is a walkout basement. The original ledger was bolted right to the bay.

I also attached pictures of what it looks like under the floor. Like I mentioned, a 2x10's sistered to the side of the floor truss. The 2X10 extends past the sill plate and cantilevers to the end of the bay.

Just couldn't hold the computer long enough upside down. Nope, strictly forbidden to attach anything to an overhand or bay window like that. It must be free standing.
