I am getting ready to replace a bath tub with a new spa tub and considering using Kerdi board as the tile backer. Kerdi is made my the same people who make Ditra. Ditra always seems to rate highly. Price seems high but the light weight and ease of installation are big a plus for me.
Any opinions?

I think it's a fantastic product overall. I'm not sure it's a good plan if this is gonna be a one time thing though. I say that cuz you'll need the special screw/washers and may be stuck with extras if you're doing only one job.

While installing I was concerned of the flex in the ½" board and thought I shoulda used ⅝" instead. The flex goes away once the tiles are installed. This was a shower I didn't for a relative, so lifetime guarantee if you know what I mean. Still perfect.

Jazman,

Thanks for the confirmation. The washers and screws are not that expensive and I have another bath in the future. I was at Home Depot today and they had 2 rolls of the Kerdi band on close out for $10 each. I bought them both. My local tile store wants $110 for a 4 by 8 sheet of 1\2". Seems a good price.
