So I'm still busy rewiring my garage and am down to the last box. The only uncovered area is by the back door to the deck and in a stairwell to a storage loft. It technically doesn't NEED an outlet here, but WTH... I got a box and you can never have too many plugs right? :p

On the other hand.. I'm tired of trying to figure out where to put it, hence I'm attempting to crowd-source the answer lol. If this was your garage and your last plug, where in this space between the door and the stairs would YOU put it? Most are mounted 45" off the deck but I can go up high, I can go down low... wide open baby! (all the stuff on landing in the corner is removable)

I'm hoping to get an idea I haven't thought of and it turns out to be the most used of the entire shop!

Thanks for any thoughts and stay safe!

You sound like my grown daughter shopping.....hey, I've got $20 left, what do I buy??? The box, receptacle and cover, probably cost a whopping $1.20. Save them for a rainy day when you need power at a certain location. You can wire it then from an adjacent receptacle.

Yeah not even about the cost or the work (though I do want to finish the wall at some point)... I've just convinced myself that there is a perfect usage for a plug here, and I got tired of staring at it figuring it out lol

My favorite garage receptacle is a cord drop from the center ceiling down to a connector body. Nothing ever gets piled in front of it and I don't have to bend over to reach it. I left enough slack in it to reach the floor and keep it clamped off to the 7' level with a plastic clamp until I need it down lower. It's as handy as a pocket on a shirt!

PS... You might want to clean that stairway up before someone gets hurt!!! lol

I'll second the ceiling outlet. My husband has one for his garage door opener in his shop and he's got the pull down extension cord thing on it - it's so awesome.

I have 4 drop outs in my shop. Totally indispensable. One, however was the last one I installed and just used the rest of the SO cable. It falls at 5'8" from the floor. It is a head knocker for sure. I'll shorten it some day

Drops are great ideas and I will probably look into those once I get the overall layout locked down... trying to map out space for a lift and not quite sure where the "middle" will be yet.

For this corner I was thinking a plug in flashlight or some other such charger and it would be an easy access spot for the first GFI in line if it ever needed resetting. Or just something to service the upstairs via extension cord in a pinch (if I ever need any up there they will probably share a circuit w/ the drops eventually). In the end there likely is no awesome magical function in that corner so anywhere is probably fine :p
