i have a panel that when i put a volt con on it,the panel reads 120v on one leg and 0 on the other,i found out later that a floor guy hooked up to dryer plug,shorted that out now only one leg works,can any one help,
there is no disconnect on house and meter is 200ft from house and power company said everything was fine at meter

its an old house with just the 2 legs coming in to the panel, i looked around the house and didn't fine a disconnect on the outside also the wire is coming up form the ground and into the panel to the top to both lugs,

hold on. What do you mean it has just 2 legs. Explain what you mean. How many wires, total, are coming in from the power company?

and your voltage measurements. What did you measure from and too. Have you measured from leg to leg? leg to ground (X2), leg to neutral (X2)?

Quoi ?? did you check the disconnect switch below the meter socket ?? it should have one there due you mention 200 feet distance so that will be the first place to verify the voltage then go indoor panel and double check the voltage you should have 120 volts from line to netural { either line } or 240 from line to line.

If you only reading 120 volts you may I say may have underground cable failure the only two way you can get this fix is have a electrician to come out and trace the underground cable to find the fault or replace the underground cable one of the two.
