Hi guys
I guess this is my heating week
You just helped me with my sons second zone issue, now I have one of my own.
I'm glad it's still warm here so there is no pressure.
I have an older Beckett that's giving me trouble. It's on an old arcoliner boiler, 3 zone hot water.

I recently serviced the unit- vacuum, nozzle, filters, adjusted with older FYRITE. etc.

It has been running fine for a couple of months until now

It might run all day and then again it might not fire. it starts instantly when the reset button is pushed.
I have cleaned the cad eye, i have reset the electrodes.

Three years ago this unit was under 4 feet of water from sandy. I put in a new motor and it has been running fine till now. I suspect the primary is the problem. it's an old honeywell gray box.

Is there any way to test this control.?
I have been looking for a replacement but I can't find an exact duplicate.

I know that this has constant ignition because when I lift the transformer when it's running it's arcing.
Am I headed in the right direction.

which control would work as a replacement.

or should I scrap it and put in a new Beckett I can pick up for about $400

Thanks in advance
Ralph

Could be the cad cell is getting weak, or the new nozzle is not always spraying as good of a pattern as it should. While it could be the primary control(gray box), intermittent behavior like this is usually not caused by them.

What nozzle, and what dimensions are the electrodes set at.

The electrodes are set using that tin gauge from Beckett, I'd say about 1/8X1/8 by about 1/2 above center
the nozzle is an 80 degree solid 1 gallon, that's the set up I have been using for years.

I'd be happy to replace the primary if I knew which one to buy, like I said it was submerged in salt water 3 years ago.
It does look rusty. I haven't tried to clean the contacts yet. since it's a holiday weekend. can't get parts if I screw it up.

I had a problem on one of my becketts about 4-5 yrs ago very similar to yours, I replaced the primary and it fixed it. Do you happen have one of the carlin 14k electronic transformers? They are known to come and go and they tend to not like being on constantly.
