I have an interior door that has a 3" x 1 1/2" cut out for the hardware which slips inside it. The hardware with the rose is all in one piece. The old hardware has broken and I need to replace it any ideas on how to find a replacement?
Thanks.

Check a local re-use store if you have one. If not, check around at older antique (junk) stores in your area. Every one of these in my area has what seems like thousands of doors, often times with the hardware still attached.

It sounds like mortise lock hardware, but the dimensions seem unfamiliar. What does," The hardware with the rose is all in one piece." mean?
What part of the hardware is broken?
Does the latch retract when the knob is turned?
Does the latch stay in the housing?
Can you post a picture?
If you have an old local hardware store still around, they might carry replacements if the hardware was prevalent in the area.
