Hello Plumbing Experts,
My wife wants to move our sink to an exterior wall under a bay window. There isn't enough room to run the vent up around the windows. Even if there was, the roof overhang over the bay window is almost non existent, the previous owners didn't have the bay window installed properly. I don't feel comfortable installing a drain vent so close to the edge of the roof. So I think I am left with 4 options.
I could install a loop vent and drop the drain below the floor over and install a new vent pipe, but it's a good 8 ft to what I think is the ideal location. Most of the information I have read considers the loop vent an island option.
Run a horizontal line under the bay window. I would have a hell of a time cutting the studs to make it through the angled exterior wall. This would probably weaken the exterior wall and I really dislike this idea.
I could run a horizontal line in the cabinets. It's still an 8ft run, and I would struggle to get the line high enough with the drawers in the way. Because it's an exterior wall, it would be easier to stay out of the wall entirely.
Install an AAV. I read half the states say this is against code, and half say it's acceptable. I'm not installing an Island so I feel like even if it was allowed in Florida I would be pushing my luck.
So much of the house is against code from previous owners additions, that I am hesitant to call the inspectors office without cleaning some of it up first which will take a few years. I can't tell you how many romex wires we have found with wire nuts outside of junction boxes in the attic under insulation and in the crawl space. I'm not sure if I am more frustrated with our home inspector or the previous owners.
If anyone has any opinions I would love to hear them. thanks for your help!
