Hey,

Does anyone have pre-printed instructions on how to frame and install a non pre-hung door? If not, are there any things to watch out for or common mistakes? What gaps must there be between the door and the framing? and the floor?

I am reinstalling solid wood 6-panel doors that are 1 3/8" thick into new 2x4 framing. I also want to have one of them hinged on the opposite side that it is hinged now.

Peace,

That's a lot of instructions to type---There are lots of instructions on build the jambs and cutting the hinge butts---I suggest that you go to the library and get a book on basic finish carpentry.

Someone here might feel like writing a book for you---but not me.--Mike---

Thanks, I will look for that kind of book. Every book I have looked at so far only talks about prehung doors.

I am trying to keep these doors because they are original to my 1930's house.

So, I am guessing I am going to build the 'finished frame' into my 2x4 framing and then install the door, instead of framing the door in the finished frame first and then installing it as a prehung door.
