I am replacing some wiring and on the front of my house there is conduit coming from a metal wet location box into a wet location receptacle box and into a junction then a light (all wet locations boxes) ..it's like a cluster of conduit and boxes. My main concern is, is it against code to have nm in metal conduit? There is an overhang (1&1/2-2ft) from the roof somewhat covering the location. When I opened it up there was 12/2 romex.

Romex is not allowed for use in wet locations. The inside of pipe is considered a wet location when installed outdoors.

Thanks. I've owned the house for 3 years and just recently had an issue and started taking that apart and saw there was romex. I'm a new electrical student and this didn't even seem right to me! Thanks again!

How hard would it be to put the wiring in the wall?

If too hard...then replace the NM with THWN.

Side note....I hate seeing conduit on the outside of a house.....but that is just the OCD in me....

The junction and receptacle boxes are attached to brick the rest may be ok to get in the wall. I'm going to go under the house (we have a crawl space) to see what is there but I'm thinking that will be a hefty project to get that in the wall.

At first I thought you were talking about the mans house!

To the OP:

If you leave the conduit, run some thwn wire instead of romex.
Sorry. Some dirtbag posted some garbage. I quoted it and reported it. It has since been deleted.
