I have two windows that I am going to install in my home and had a few questions. First off the home was built around the 1950's and the windows are from about the same time. They are the old sliders and the aluminum frame is coming off the glass. It is a brick home with aluminum siding on about 10% of the home(from the top of the windows and up). I was going to install aluminum windows with the nailing tab around it.
I was going to cut the morter in between the bricks back far enough to get all around the window for flashing tape purposes and take out the bricks out for re-use. After this I was going to support the frame and rebuild the frame for the window since it is going to be a little bigger. Then I am going to make a sill with dupont flexwrap and then silicone and install the window and use flashing tape around it putting the flashing tape over the house wrap. After this I would re-brick the part that is cut away back up to the edge of the windows like it is now.
Sorry for the long paragraphs I am just wanting to install these windows and I want to make sure that I am installing them the right way.
Thank you for any help.
