I'm building a new front entry and need to tie-in new roof to old. Old roof is a 4-12 pitch and new will be 8-12.
The addition is 11' wide x 6' and will tie new gable to slope. (Not sure of the right terms for the slant side of the roof)

Do I need to cut the old roof overhang (eaves) off (flush to the wall) to tie-in new roof?

Thanks for the reply :)
Is that the only reason why because my walls are 12' and I plan to lower the ceiling to meet old side of the house which is 10'
If you're doing that and the overhang doesn't stick down lower than your 10' ceiling no reason to cut them off.
