I've been looking at purchasing a drywall sander. I'm planning on picking up another house for my wife and I to remodel. I have rented two power sanders. One was the porter cable and the other was a no brand model. Both worked well. I was looking at amazon.com and I was shocked at the varying prices. I realize that 'you get what you pay for' but after reading reviews it seems like most of the complaints on all fronts was fatigue after using it all day (duh-they are heavy) and swirls (duh again if you go too fast) so I was hoping someone with experience could let me know if I should shell out the extra couple of hundred bucks for the pc. here are the links:

I didn't include the festool brand because that is out of my price range. I get the vibe that all the models are basically the same thing--knock off of the porter cable. I don't plan on building a house, I don't plan on installing more than 10 sheets of drywall per house I live in, and I really only would like this for sanding ceilings and the easy cleanup. Therefore I need a tool that will work when I need it but not break the bank. I have quality nailers, saws, kneepads and boots--those are the things I use most. Anyone's input is appreciated.

Unless you plan on going into the drywall business stick with renting one.

The only one on the list I have used or heard of is the porter cable and yes it was a very good sander. And to be honest $430 is a pretty good price. You might want to go on drywall talk they have a section of items for sale, might find something there.

looked around online..not many reviews on the cheap one. Nor was there anything reasonably priced on craigslist. I bought a cheap-o and will report how it goes. Thank god for Amazon's return policy.
