I plan to build my own pool house with toilet. I am tapping into an existing sewer line coming from the back of my house. I have mapped out the yard for excavation and new line. Any tips on connecting my sewer line? Do I need a vent in my pool house for one toilet (I plan to have roofing ventilation). Do I need 2 inches of gravel around my sewer line? Any help is greatly appreciated!

All fixtures need to be vented, or the trap(s) will be sucked dry of water, which is what seals out sewer gases. Sand is normally used around the sewer line. Unless the gravel was really fine, it could rub a hole in the line.

How did this turn out for you?

Are you permitted to tap into sewer lines on the outside of your house like this? I had expected some type of code indicating that you had to connect it on the interior footprint of your house connecting to and existing line.

I have been considering a pool house with toilet as visitors always feel odd asking to tramp through the house soaking wet.

Any advice whether to tap into the sewer line or consider a SaniFlo type system for cost and convenience?
