new pelet stove base

Would like to add a pellet stove in the basement , I have the vent kit , no stove yet but would like to make a base for the stove to sit on .
My question is how is this made with, do I start with a 2x4 base with 3/4" plywood or just use cement blocks ? Would like it to look nice and build my sub floor around it.

If concrete floor, just tile wher the stove will sit.
If making a base, build with either 2x3 or 2x4, depending on the finished height you want. As for the covering, tile or the pseudo rock for the covering, of the base.

My in-laws base for their wood stove, was actually poured, then covered with the pseudo stone for the stove to sit on.

Check out the German house rebuild thread in the project show case forum, there is some good info in there.

jmon, actually if you go to the German House Rebuild thread, ShumakerScott did one that is really nice, for his pellet burner furnace.

jmon, if you haven't chimed in over there, let drop by and tell Scott high. I have been following it for some time, since he has a lot of good tricks that he has pulled off, and also his thread is better than watching Bryan Baeumler on DIY Network. Due to ShumakerScott is an average guy, but if you also go to about a year or two ago, he shows some pictures in the thread of what he does for a living, with the Nato forces, for training with IED's, etc..
