Just bought a new Moen faucet cartridge for the bathroom and installed it the other day. I've done this about 10 times already over the years so I doubt there was any user error, but ever since the new cartridge was installed the faucet makes a hissing sound whenever the water is running. Water flow is normal and the handle is super easy to pull on and off. Any ideas on what is causing the noise?

No model # posted, no picture, no idea if it's a faucet, shower, tub.
Replacing it 10 times sends up a red flag to me.
Able to just pull the handle off is also a concern.

Sorry, didn't have any pics handy and my description left some info out. I've since found a pic and attached it. It's a bathroom sink faucet, 35 years old, due to be replaced in a month or two, but the handle got so hard to pull when turning the faucet on I figured I'd replace the cartridge one last time. I've replaced them on this particular faucet about 6 times over the last three decades, and have replaced other cartridges on faucets at my parents house in the past. I just wanted to say that this wasn't my first time doing this. I'm pretty sure that the reason for early failure on the other ones was that they were generic cartridges from Home Depot. I could never seem to find a genuine Moen until the other day, when I found that Menards carries them. I'll pull the cartridge out and check it for debris. Thanks for the replies.

Dave,
I have a few of the Moen faucets very similar to yours, along with three Moen tub/shower controls. Whenever I needed a new cartridge, I called their toll free customer service number and told them the model number and they sent me a new cartridge free. They have advertised for quite awhile now, "Moen, buy it once, buy it for life." Didn't need any receipts or proof of purchase either. They were always very nice on the phone. When I have replaced the faucet cartridges, they have been very easy to go up and down for a little while, due to the fresh layer of light grease on them. If you are using the aftermarket one, I can't really comment on the hissing. But if you're going to replace it soon, and it's not leaking, I wouldn't worry about it.
