Hi from BillyT..I`m new to this site, I am in the process of building a log home in the wilds of Tennessee. I`m sure this site will serve invaluable since this is my first new home build. Just wanted to say Hi..
I am in Chattanooga, how far is your cabin going to be from here? Thanks Big Jim..where abouts in Tenn. are you?
We are in Lawrenceburg, which is on the other side of the state, maybe 200 miles from you.I am in Chattanooga, how far is your cabin going to be from here?
Thanks so much for the offer. I`m sure I will be calling on you from time to time. Anyone that braved two winters in WV is OK in my book. We bought a kit from Daniel Boone Log Homes out of Nashville. great folks to work with. We plan to take over at the dry in phase and finish it from there.Welcome! My wife and I built our log home ourselves about four years ago. Took us more than two years, during which we lived in our RV on the property (through two WV winters). We subbed out the foundation, HVAC, and metal roof, and did literally everything else ourselves. Are you going with a kit, or starting with cutting down trees? If kit, what company is it from?
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I am not a professional tradesman of any kind (retired engineer) but can certainly offer the DIY perspective and advice.
