Good morning, everyone!

So I have a Rhuud Achiever 10 Seer Unit that has been giving us issues. The fan motor wasn't running and it would make a loud humming noise prior to installing the new one. I was told by HVAC tech's that it is the fan motor. So I bought the correct replacement that matches all of the specs of the original motor. Bought a new capacitor to go with it. I followed the wiring diagram that the new motor came with. Put it all together, but didn't tie off the remaining two wires first. This particular motor is reversible, and since it is a 3-wire hookup, I didn't want to tie them off before knowing I had the right fan blade motion going. Still the same problem as before. Does anybody here have any clues or tips on what can be going on and how I can fix it? Any help would be much appreciated!

The specific fan motor that I have is:

K55HXJKL-2918 - OEM Upgraded Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/5 HP 208-230 Volts 1075 RPM

Does the compressor come on?

Does the contactor engage?

If not, high pressure switch may be tripped from running without fan, look for it - likely manual reset.

Loud hum from motor:

Not getting proper voltage, wrong capacitor or miswired.

You may have a failed defrost control board. On a heat pump, the fan gets its power from that board. Check all connectors and then check the voltage coming from the board to the fan. Your old fan motor is likely still usable.

If the voltage is 240 from the board to the fan, double check your wiring of the motor.
