I just replaced the blower motor in a Ruud air handler and it works for a short time but then heats up and shuts down. I know its not an air flow problem as Ive checked this. I also replaced the capacitor.

In heating mode? In cooling mode? In fan on? What and when is it shutting down and how long is it running before it's shutting down ? Is the heat coming on in heating mode? If so, how long is the system running before turning off?

See if more then one blower speed is getting powered at the same time and check the capacitor.

make sure the mounting bracket isn't too tight around the motor verify your speeds hi cooling lo or med lo for heating..

blower quits in cooling mode, dont know about heating mode. blower runs for about 15 minutes before getting hot and shuting down on overload. Outdoor unit continues to run. cleaned evap. coil and squriel cage.Made sure its only running on one speed.Still same problem

Is the replacement motor the same HP as the old one??
